I have this cage for my two boys, and they love it! I like the bar spacing because one of my ratties is still quite young and could get out of 1". I agree that the doors are too small, but my long arms come in handy when it comes time to wipe down the shelves. It is the perfect size because I have two (hopefully soon to be three) rats and they will have plenty of room. I was not a fan of the water bottle, it too hard to fill up and reattatch when it needs to be cleaned. I was spilling water everywhere the first time that I tried to use it. I do like the hard plastic house and food dish it came with. As for putting it together, I bought the floor model, so it was already set up. Taking it apart and putting it back together for cleaning is not all that difficult in my opinion after you have done it a couple times. I love the tube to get to the second shelf, I is so funny to see my younger boy climb up it with such determination, even though he is a little small for it. Now I just need to sew up some cubes and hammock to make it a real rat cage...
